Rosewood & Pearl Laptop Writing Desk, c.1890

Expertly hand made in the 1890's, a rosewood portable laptop or desktop writing desk was the laptop computer of its day.

The inlay and edge banding is ebony, mother of pearl and abalone. The working lock opens to a saddle leather writing surface.

Under the gallery are a tilting pen rest and cut crystal ink bottles with silver caps in velvet cushioned compartments. Under the slanted surface is another compartment for stationery. There are mars and wear to the finish for a little antique patina.

Size of this charming English antique when closed is 15" wide, 11" deep and 4" tall.
