Signed with brass plates, "Tyler Desk Co. St. Louis," this solid walnut roll top desk dates from the 1890's. Solid walnut with paneled sides, the lustrous finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture.
There are various restorations over the years and no key or lock on the roll, but there is a key and lock for the lower door. Dovetailed deep drawers have original carved pulls. The writing surface is natural saddle leather. An "S" shaped roll top slides to cover tiny drawers and compartments for papers, there are pen rests in the center.
Size is 52" wide, 32" deep, 51" tall, the desktop is 30" tall and the kneehole is 24" wide and 27" high. The upper section is removable for easier moving.
