A palatial pair of 1870 era cut glass mirrors from France have opulent carved frames with lavish pierced work with bird, flower and scrollwork motifs.
Traces of the original 24k gold leaf are still visible in the burnished gold finish, which has had numerous restorations over the years.
There is diamond wheel cutting to the upper panes of glass mirror, some of the silvering has losses at the edges. There are several small hairline cracks at the edges, see photos. Antique "smoke" and slight waviness shows the age of the early thick plate glass of this European furniture.
Each of this historic pair measures 29" wide, 79" tall and projects 3."
