A spectacular 1870's quilt rail or towel stand is curly or "birdseye" maple. The finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few stains and mars for antique character, see photos.
American made furniture, the frame is solid maple, turned and shaded to look like bamboo. This was part of a Japanese fashion at the time, and Pres. Harrison had a very similar suite of furniture in the White House.
Measurements are 26" long, 13" wide and 34" tall.
