A remarkable pair of chairs have tooled leather with hand painted castle and cathedral scenes, masterfully hand crafted in Spain in the early to mid 1800's. The church is "San Vicente in Avila," and the gate is inscribed "San Pedro de Cardenas," the burial place of El Cid.
Solid walnut frames have an excellent restored finish and have been reglued to serve another generation. Deeply hand tooled leather has wear and scuffs, see photos. This antique furniture from a palazzo has brass nailhead trim. Finials are later.
Dimensions are 20" wide, 20" deep, 41" tall and seats are 18" high.
