This carved pair of solid mahogany armchairs from about 1910 show the curved and graceful lines of Art Nouveau design. The sturdy frames have beautiful patina, warm color and a few mars. There is Biedermeier influence in this antique furniture, which is larger and much more comfortable than typical dainty and delicate furnishings of the period.
Art Nouveau includes the art of Tiffany, Galle and Majorelle, and is also called "Jugendstil." The deep seats have supportive springs, and the old velvet upholstery has not been cleaned. When reupholstered, the seats would be rewebbed, but are very usable as they are. Measurements are 32" wide, 32" deep and 36" tall, seats are 17" high.
