Coffee Table from Shortened Victorian Oval Marble Top Table

This marble top coffee or cocktail table was born as a taller Victorian lamp table about 1880, and was later shortened.
Oval shaped marble has been polished and sealed to resist stains. Solid walnut, the base has a very fine finish and is strong and tight. The base is charmingly askew from the top, and appears to have been made that way, see photos.
A faint painted inscription shows this antique was originally made for someone in Ithaca, NY.
Measurements of this American made furniture are 29" long, 23" wide and 22" tall.
