Empire Biedermeier Antique 1870 Secretary Desk
A sweet secretary desk was hand made about 1870 in the Biedermeier or Empire design. Matched flame grain mahogany has beautiful shimmering grain, the original finish is very well preserved with a few mars at the edges - see photos. Freshly waxed and polished, it needs only a wipe with a dry soft cloth to maintain its warm antique patina.
Working double throw locks are original. Inside the counter-weighted drop front are tiny drawers, a locking compartment plus a "secret" drawer. Lower drawers have hand dovetailed solid oak sides on this elegant furniture from Austria.
Size of this marvelous desk is 42" wide, 22" deep, 60" tall and the writing surface is 31" high.
