This elegant full or double size bed was masterfully carved with roses and a shell motif in France about 1910, and has original side rails.
The original finish is very well preserved on glowing matched and banded walnut, and has been waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Deeply sculpted carving and gentle curves are beautiful on this antique furniture.
A "bunky board" or upholstered platform has been made to use instead of a spring unit to support the standard full size 12" thick demonstrator mattress, see photos. This keeps the bedding from being so tall as to cover up part of the headboard.
Measurements are 58" wide, 80" long, the headboard is 61" tall and the footboard is 35" high.
