Entirely original from about 1890, a set of twelve dining chairs from northern Italy have embossed leather upholstery with griffins, dragons and fruit motifs. There is some wear and superficial crackling to the heavy weight leather, secured by brass nailheads.
Solid walnut frames with an original finish have warm antique patina and just enough wear for character. Strong and tight, they have been waxed and buffed so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the soft luster.
Springs are supportive on these upright and straight chairs from a palazzo.
Measurements are 17" wide, 18" deep, 35" tall and seats are 18" high.
