Swiss 1800's Antique Queen Size Bed, Carved Gnomes

A picturesque early 1800's bed from Switzerland was hand carved with traditional gnomes or gremlins, mischievous European characters that are cousins to the leprechauns of Ireland.

Hand hewn of solid wormy fruitwood with walnut and birch inlay, this antique furniture has been expertly adapted to fit a standard modern queen mattress.

Folk art motifs and moldings are charming, the finish is in excellent condition. Side rails are original.

Photos show a standard modern queen size mattress and spring unit about 16" thick, wood support slats underneath are included.

Measurements of this strong and sturdy historic European bed are 86" long, 68" wide, the headboard is 83" tall and the footboard is 40" high.
