Hand wrought in Turkey about 100 years ago, this solid brass and copper tea kettle has a stand for heating coals.
The traditional sign of hospitality in the middle east has always been the offer of a glass of tea, usually sweetened mint flavor.
This lavish antique warmer and large scaled pot was a symbol of welcome.
Hot coals from a fire would be put into the base, keeping the kettle hot. There is a smoke vent through the pot for efficient heating, the inside is tinned to protect the purity of water.
Size of the kettle is 16" across and 13" tall, overall height is 41."
