A solid oak hall bench or settee from about 1900 has a "press carved" and spindle back, signed "Heywood Wakefield."
The original finish has just enough mars and wear for a little antique character, and has been preserved with clear varnish. Tight and strong, the frame has lots of quarter sawn oak grain and has been reglued to serve another generation. The seat has been recently caned on this charming American made furniture.
Measurements are 62 1/2" wide, 23" deep, 43" tall and the seat is 18" high.
