Crafted of solid oak for a Wisconsin U.S. Post Office about 1910, this mail sorter could be a collector file cabinet as well. Functional on a counter or the floor, it could also be wall mounted.
Various city labels are on the cubicles inside. The original finish has warm antique patina with lots of mars and dings for character. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Because it is not very deep, this cabinet should be anchored to the wall for stability. The brass latch is original.
Measurements are 38 1/2" wide, 7 1/2" deep and 55 1/2" tall. The cubicles are 3 1/2" wide, 4 1/4" tall and 5" deep.
