A picturesque stationary or "platform" rocking chair dates from the Victorian period, about 1890, and has old hand made needlepoint upholstery.
The spool turned frame is strong and usable in solid maple, upholstery is worn through on the arms, see photos.
These rockers were prized because they took less space and didn't "travel" into nearby furniture when rocked, they were "stationary."
Size of this American made antique furnitiure is 23" wide, 31" deep, 45" tall and the seat is 17" high.
