Expertly crafted in Pennsylvania about 1850 by a country carpenter, this clean-lined armoire or wardrobe is solid butternut wood. The warm brown finish is excellent, with small mars and wear, especially at the edges.
Ruggedly built, the original turned knobs are attached with wooden screw dowels. Deep drawers have hand cut dovetails, the door lock is operational. Inside are later pine shelves that are removable, the interior is 19" deep and would accommodate a closet pole if desired.
This one-piece furniture has square nails visible on the backside. The crown is beautifully proportioned, and shows Empire influence. Size of this nostalgic antique is 5' 10" wide, 24" deep and 6' 10" tall.
