An authentic Biedermeier or Empire period secretary desk from about 1840 has a marble top with natural fossils. Hand crafted of solid oak, every piece is hand planed.
The old finish has warm antique patina, waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster. Charcoal marble has been polished and sealed to resist stains.
Iron arms support the drop front which has a saddle leather writing surface, inside is a "secret" drawer" plus tiny hand dovetailed drawers. Locks and wrought iron keys still work on this historic and clean lined furniture from northern Europe.
Bun feet are also original, size is 40" wide, 18" deep and 57 1/2" tall.
