Authentic American Empire period furniture from about 1820, this solid mahogany console table has a flip and swivel top that opens to a square game table.
The finish is in very fine condition, there are mars, shrinkage separations and some dings in the top for antique character - see photos. Underneath the top is a storage place for game cards and pieces, the skirt is matched flame grain mahogany.
Shaped and spiral legs have hand carved acanthus leaf tops, the frame is tight and strong. Classic East coast workmanship is beautiful, this table is beautiful as a hall console, perhaps with the top raised against the wall.
Measurements when closed are 36" wide, 18" deep and 29 1/2" tall, open game table size is 36" square and 28 1/2" tall.
