Wonderful New England furniture from about 1835, a solid cherry chest or dresser is accented with blocks of shimmering tiger maple.
The finish is excellent with marvelous warm patina and vivid color. It has lots of character. The top has an old shrinkage separation from age, see photos of the single 22" wide plank of cherry with a little golden sapwood at the back.
Entirely hand-crafted, square nails and hand-planing are visible. Drawers have beautiful tiny hand-cut dovetails and chamfered bottoms. Restorations include some drawer sides and the feet.
This picturesque antique dates from the American Empire period, and has generous storage space. Measurements are 46" wide, 22" deep and 46" tall.
