A French tall case or grandfather clock from about 1850 has a hand carved walnut case.
The 8 day brass "Morbier" design movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled, it keeps excellent time and strikes the hour twice, the second time a few minutes later in case you weren't listening, and the bell also strikes the half hour one time.
The winding crank is old but not original. The porcelain dial has hand painted numerals and is in very fine condition with a brass bezel.
The shaped case has an old finish in remarkably fine condition with warm patina and a few dings and shrinkage separations for antique character. Lock and key still work on the lift off door, which has two separate panes of old wavy glass on this furniture from France.
The case is 20" wide, 10" deep and 6' 10" tall.
