A bold sideboard, server or credenza from about 1910 is solid oak with three pairs of hand carved and painted figures. Entirely original, the warm finish has been waxed and polished, and is in exceptional condition with warm antique patina and a few mars and stains for character, see photos.
Three dimensional high relief lower door panels are subtly "polychrome" painted. Each carving is a true individual portrait, subjects wear Renaissance clothing.
Large upper drawers have dovetailed sides and original oak knobs. Top panels float in a frame to allow for expansion with changing humidity. Working locks include one replacement. Deep moldings, substantial bun feet and raised side panels show expert workmanship on this extraordinary furniture from France.
Dimensions are 103" long, 23" deep and 42" tall.
