Hand carved in Wales about 1780 with Celtic motifs, a charming country armoire or cabinet is solid oak.
Hand hewn and secured with wooden pegs, some rose cut iron nail heads are still visible. The deep brown old finish is well preserved with warm antique patina. A lock and key on the right door work, there is a latch inside to open the left door. Panels are raised, and doors swing on hand wrought iron hinges. The interior divider and adjustable shelves are later.
There have been various restorations to this historic furniture, including drawer sides, crown and base moldings, as is typical with furniture that is centuries old.
Interior depth is 14," overall size is 52" wide, 19" deep and 68" tall.
