Signed by famed English sculptor, "A. Bertram Pegram, 1911," this bronze statue depicts two women in Renaissance garb kissing.
Inscribed "Amitie," or Friendship, the sculpture has a rich deep chocolate patina in excellent condition. The genuine rosewood plinth is original on this work of art. Alfred Bertram Pegram lived 1873-1911, and won numerous prizes at the Royal Academy in London where he studied from 1895 -1899. His work is found across Great Britain in collections, museums and parks. He was also commissioned for the huge Welsh War Memorial in Cardiff, Wales.
In recognition of his artistic achievement, he was appoint a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors.
Measurements of this tender depiction are 5 1/2" wide, 4" deep and 10" tall.
