Harp Gallery is a family-owned antique and vintage furniture gallery founded in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1985. Today, from our showroom and restoration facility in Kaukauna, we source, professionally restore, photograph, and ship distinctive antique and vintage furniture to customers throughout the United States and beyond.
Our collection spans centuries of design, from Victorian, Arts & Crafts and Mission furniture to Art Nouveau, Art Deco, European antiques, and Midcentury Modern pieces. Rather than simply buying and reselling old furniture, our team carefully evaluates and restores each piece so that it retains the craftsmanship, materials, and character that make it special while being ready for another generation of use.
Harp Gallery was founded in 1985 by Kenneth and Rebecca Melchert in downtown Appleton, Wisconsin. Their backgrounds in antiques, art, estates, and design helped shape a business built around an appreciation for exceptional craftsmanship and the belief that well-made furniture deserves to be preserved and enjoyed.
The Harp Gallery name was inspired by Rebecca, a professional harpist who regularly performed at events across the country. From the beginning, Kenneth and Rebecca wanted their business to be more than a traditional antique shop. Professional restoration became an important part of Harp Gallery, allowing furniture to be carefully repaired and prepared for its next owners rather than simply acquired and placed back on the sales floor.
What began as a small family antique business has grown into a major source for restored antique and vintage furniture, serving customers across the country while remaining family-owned and based in Wisconsin.
Every piece entering Harp Gallery goes through a process that extends well beyond ordinary antique retail. Our team researches, evaluates, restores, photographs, describes, and prepares furniture for its next home.
Our experienced in-house restoration craftsmen work with traditional joinery, solid hardwoods, veneers, carved details, finishes, upholstery, hardware, and the materials commonly found in quality antique and vintage furniture. Pieces may require anything from careful cleaning and minor adjustments to structural repairs, veneer work, upholstery, hardware restoration, or extensive refinishing.
We do not believe restoration should erase everything that makes old furniture special. Whenever practical, we preserve original wood, hardware, finishes, patina, and other important characteristics while repairing problems that affect appearance, operation, strength, or durability.
That process allows customers to purchase antique and vintage furniture with greater confidence, whether they are walking through our Wisconsin showroom or ordering a large piece online from thousands of miles away.

Buying an antique online requires trust, especially when the piece is large, valuable, or located hundreds of miles away. Because many of our customers never see their furniture in person before purchasing, we put considerable effort into documenting every piece as accurately and thoroughly as possible.
Our listings include an approximate age or “circa” date, detailed descriptions, overall dimensions, condition information, and extensive high-resolution photography. Many pieces are shown in dozens of photographs so customers can closely examine the wood, construction, finish, hardware, carvings, upholstery, and other details before making a decision.
Our team is available seven days a week to answer questions, provide additional measurements, discuss condition, and help with shipping arrangements. If a customer needs a specific measurement to determine whether a piece will fit through a doorway, into an alcove, or alongside existing furniture, we are happy to help.

Kenneth and Rebecca Melchert founded the gallery in 1985, and today the next generation is involved in operating and growing the company alongside them. Behind the family is a larger team of restoration craftsmen, sales professionals, photographers, buyers, drivers, and support staff who work together to discover unusual pieces, restore them carefully, document them accurately, and help them reach their next owners.
The business has changed considerably since its beginnings in downtown Appleton. Harp Gallery has grown from a primarily local antique shop into an online furniture business serving customers throughout the United States. What has not changed is our focus on quality construction, distinctive design, craftsmanship, and furniture worth preserving.
Restoration has been part of Harp Gallery since the beginning.
Today, our restoration operation includes experienced craftsmen working in a dedicated shop designed for antique and vintage furniture. Our team regularly addresses structural problems, loose joinery, damaged veneer, worn finishes, missing wood and carvings, upholstery, hardware, and countless other issues that develop during decades or even centuries of use.
Having restoration performed in-house allows our team to evaluate each piece individually and complete the work we believe is appropriate before it is offered for sale.
It also allows Harp Gallery to provide professional restoration services for customers who already own an antique, vintage piece, or family heirloom they would like to preserve.

We acquire furniture and decorative pieces from estates, auctions, private sellers, collectors, and other sources in the United States and Europe. Our inventory ranges from practical solid-wood furniture to rare architectural furnishings and unusual objects that may be difficult to find anywhere else.
A customer might discover a quarter-sawn oak Mission bookcase, an elaborate Victorian sideboard, a French armoire, an Art Deco bar cabinet, a Midcentury Modern desk, an antique shop counter, or an architectural piece with a history all its own.
New pieces are added regularly, so our collection is constantly changing as furniture is restored, sold, and replaced by new discoveries.
