Antique Spanish 9 Pc. Dining Set with Carved Knights

Spectacular carvings of conquistadors, angels, gargoyles and lions adorn this Spanish Colonial 9 piece dining set. Hand carved in realistic high relief by skilled Spanish artisans about 1920, this set consists of a table, 6 embossed leather chairs, a large sideboard or buffet, and a huntboard or liquor cabinet.

The gleaming finish is in wonderful condition everywhere, only the tops have been professionally restored. All pieces are solid, the table and cabinets have decorative wrought iron underneath. Drawers are dovetailed and have original brass pulls. A fragmentary paper label on the back of the sideboard states that this historic antique furniture was masterfully created in Valencia, Spain.

The table is about 2" thick at the edges and measures 6'7" long, 40" wide, and 31" tall.

Four side chairs plus 2 armchairs have the original leather backs with embossed heraldic lions and castles, with wonderful warm patina. Seats are freshly padded and upholstered in supple, buttery new leather with a historic "worn" look, secured by original brass nailheads. Side chairs measure 20" wide, 21" deep, 46" tall and seats are 20" high. The pair of baronial armchairs are 27" wide, 28" deep and 52" tall. They would be wonderful in a hall or in front of a large fireplace.

A large sideboard or buffet for hot food is 7'11" long, 22" deep, 59" tall, the top is 40" above the floor.

The smaller huntboard and liquor cabinet was traditionally for a cold after-hunting supper of smoked meats, fish and cheese. Size is 56" long, 20" deep, 55" tall, and the top is 39" above the floor.
