Made for a printer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin about 1905, this Arts and Crafts or Mission Oak period desk marked "Pat. 1905" has fascinating features.
On the left is a shallow drawer with a tin bottom for metal type. Below is a file drawer with a front that tilts open and the adjustable pusher tilts back for easy access. Six shallow drawers were made for large wooden type and advertizing logos. At the bottom right are two 3x5 card file drawers with pushers.
Deep drawers glide smoothly and have dovetailed joints. Brass feet protected the legs when floors were mopped. Richly figured quarter sawn oak has an excellent deep finish. Cast brass hardware is original, but one is slightly different, presumably a replacement.
This American made antique Craftsman furniture is three separate stacking modules for easy moving.
Measurements are 64" wide, 33" deep, 31" tall, the kneehole is almost 23" wide and just over 24" high.
