Bronze Sculpture of Boy Lighting Cigarette, Bofill

A bronze sculpture of a boy lighting a cigarette is signed "A. Bofill" and has a French foundry stamp. This antique sculpture from about 1895 has wonderful original patina in chocolate and green. The boy leans into the wind, sheltering his match with his hat.
Artist Antoine Bofill was born in Barcelona, Spain and studied at the Academy of Beaux Arts in Barcelona. When he achieved renown, his art works were exhibited at the Salon of the Societie des Artistes Francais from 1901 into the 1920's. This naturalistic statue stands over 11" tall.
