This lovely sculpture of a bathing maiden was hand-carved of genuine alabaster about 1890.
The creamy white translucent stone is beautifully worked, the young woman is captured in motion, perhaps startled by someone, perhaps a fawn, or satre.
The condition is very fine with an old repair through the ankles, see photos. This antique work of art is just over 19" tall.
