This style of Empire chest from the 1820's was called a "chimney pot" design, after the New England houses with a chimney at both ends. Solid cherry was accented with flame grain mahogany panels and banding.
The satiny finish is in excellent condition with warm antique patina. Drawers have tiny hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms on this American made furniture.
Glass pulls are of the period and could well be original. Fluted columns have hand carved details, there are various restorations over the years.
Measurements are 45" wide, 19" deep and 59 1/2" tall, the top surface is 50" high.
