Empire 1900 Antique Carved Mahogany 2 Pc. Queen Size Bedroom Set

An American Empire two piece bedroom set was brilliantly carved of mahogany about 1900, and comprises a queen size bed and large dresser or chest with swivel mirror.
A gleaming deep finish is in excellent condition, flattering the classical acanthus leaf carving and matched flame grain panels.
The poster bed has been expertly adapted to fit a standard modern queen size mattress and spring, 20" thick together, as shown. Wood cross slats are included, and dimensions are 60" wide, 90" long and 60" tall.
The wide dresser has a swivel mirror with original plate glass and just enough antique "smoke" to show its age. Drawers have dovetailed joinery plus original brass and glass knobs, there is a lock and key on the center drawer, where a jewelry box would be stowed. Measurements are 66" wide, 28" deep and 76" tall.
