An iconic American Empire Period sofa is hand carved of solid mahogany with paw feet, scrolled arms and traditional bolsters. The frame is solid and upholstery is new on this exceptional antique furniture dating from about 1825. A gleaming satiny finish is in superb condition, and the frame is very solid and usable.
As comfortable as Empire sofas come, the springs are just firm enough, and the backside is finished and upholstered. There is matched flame mahogany on the scrolls to the front, and the subtle stenciling above the front feet appears original. The size is 7 1/2' long, 25" deep, 37" tall, and the seat is 18" high.
