A splendid English long case or grandfather clock from about 1820 has a new quartz battery silent movement. The Georgian case is oak with inlaid mahogany. The fine old finish is very well preserved, and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There are shrinkage separations and small warps from age, see photos. The brass dial is lavishly embossed and engraved, only the hour and minute hands now work. Brass capitals and mounts appear original on this antique timepiece. Lock and key on the lower door are replacements.
Measurements are 27" wide, 12" deep and 8' 1/2" tall including the removable brass finial.
