The outside of this English 1890 era travel dressing case is in terrible condition, but the fitted silk interior with crystal bottles and removable mirror is almost pristine.
There are significant losses to the exterior leather, and there was presumably a front cover that is lost. The interior tray swings out on leather hinges, and contents appear complete and original except for a replaced comb.
Inside are six cut glass jars and bottles with gold plated engraved covers, including an ink well. Bone or ivory handles on a pen, manicure implements and a shoe button hook are all in excellent condition. The leather framed beveled mirror has an easel stand. Brushes have wooden handles and there is a pincushion.
This remarkable antique from the days when only the privileged few traveled in style measures 11" wide, 7" deep and 6" tall excluding the folding handle.
