A traditional German matrimonial "Schrank" or armoire is signed "Christian Rugler & Eva Ruglerin . . . Vermahlt (Married) 30 Juli, 1839."
Hand crafted of pine with original paint, a coat of clear varnish protects the antique character with mars, dings and shrinkage separations from age. There are hand planing marks and carved wooden pegs at the joints.
This furniture splits down the middle to move, doors have raised panels and lift off hinges. The interior is rough and unfinished, there are supports where shelves were once installed. Nails and hardware are hand wrought iron. A giant key works the original lock, "double throw" or two turns each way.
Measurements of this folk art cabinet are 64" wide, 24" deep and 72" tall, interior depth is 21 1/2."
