Entirely original from about 1900, a wonderful quarter sawn oak stacking bookcase and file cabinet is signed by famous maker, "Globe," later Globe Wernicke of Cincinnati.
Original hardware and label holders have a coppery patina, glass is wavy. Four bookcase sections accommodate books up to 11" wide and 10" tall. Eight separate modular sections stack, there are nine drawers of various sizes. Four wide drawers for maps or drawings have interior measurements of 38" wide, 23" deep and 1 1 /2" tall.
The original finish is very well preserved, sides are paneled. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm antique luster. American made office furniture, this fascinating unit has spent more than the last 100 years at a Wisconsin insurance company.
Overall dimensions are 41 1/2" wide, 24" deep and 7' tall.
