An 8 note glockenspiel, xylophone or bell lyre, as they were called in marching bands has a lyre shaped frame and dates from around 1930.
There is a socket and set screw at the base to attach, possibly to a strap or belt fitted for a marching percussion player. The brass frame is worn an charmingly tarnished.
This musical instrument has a nice silvery bell tone. Overall size is 21" tall, 13" wide.
