Gypsy Girl Carmen (?) Bust, Hand Carved 1880 Antique Marble Sculpture

An exquisite hand carved marble bust of a Gypsy girl dates from about 1880. Several colors of marble have minor stains on this unsigned work of art from Italy.

The sculpture has gold highlights. A tambourine and hand tied scarf are charming, she may represent the famous "Carmen" of Bizet's popular opera. There are losses on the corners of the marble and wood base, they do not show under the removable bust.

Overall dimensions are 14" wide, 9" deep and 22" tall.
