This lovely table is a "marriage;" the top and dropleaves date from about 1820 and the base with brass claw feet is from the 1920's.
It is a wonderful dining table, but is also useful as a breakfast, tea or sofa table. The solid mahogany top and leaves are single wide planks of gorgeous figured flame grain mahogany with a superb polished finish and a few mars, see photos.
Carved wood hinged supports swing out when the dropleaves are raised into position. Hand planing marks can be felt underneath this American antique from the east coast.
Unfortunately, the original base was lost and replaced with the base as shown, also in Federal style but a century newer.
Measurements of this antique furniture with dropleaves down are 40" long, 34" wide and 30" tall. With both dropleaves raised, size is 52" x 40."
