Only the 12 chairs are signed by high end maker, "Maitland Smith," but the round table and sideboard are also products of this famous maker and are less than 10 years old.
Six side chairs plus 6 armchairs are carved of solid mahogany with an original hand rubbed finish in excellent condition on elegant and graceful frames. Fabric with soft velvet stripes is in great condition as well.
Good sized and comfortably curved, these chairs measure 21" wide, 21" deep, 35" tall and seats are 19" high.
Six arm chairs have small mars at the fronts of the arms and are 23" wide, 25" deep and 37" tall.
The round dining table has eight curved leaves and a spinning lazy susan in the center. Lavishly banded, the top is inlaid with matched flame grain mahogany, satinwood, tulipwood and ebony, supported by a solid mahogany "birdcage" base in classic Georgian design. All original, the hand rubbed finish is in excellent condition with a few small scratches plus mars and losses to some tips of the leaves as shown. The ingenious configuration has sturdy pull out supports under the leaves, which have dentil molding on the rims.
The top is 1 1/2" thick and 30" tall, without any leaves, diameter is 5' across; with all 8 leaves in place, diameter is 7' 4."
The sideboard or server has carved paw feet and a brass gallery with pineapple finials. Lavishly inlaid and banded with matched flame grain mahogany, satinwood and ebony, the hand rubbed finish is in excellent condition with a few small scratches as shown. Embossed filigree brass pulls are original, in the center are two small silverware drawers.
Measurements of this luxurious piece are just under 7' long, 25" deep, 45" tall and the top surface is 38" high.
