A spectacular 1910 era back bar, sideboard or server with display cabinets and mirror has a marble top. This exquisite furniture shows superior craftsmanship from the golden age of Buenos Aires in Argentina - see photos of the expert finesse throughout.
The black Italian famous "Nero Porfirio" marble top has been polished and sealed to resist stains, there are various losses on the bottom and back edges. Very well preserved, the silken original finish has a little fading and has been waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm luster.
Walnut is inlaid with rosewood and ebony banding, panels are curly ash. There are minor shrinkage separations from age, see photos. Bronze mounts and hardware are original, upper cabinets have curved and beveled glass with a deeply carved pattern. Sides and front are gently curved.
The central arched and beveled mirror has just enough antique "smoke" to show its age. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and inlaid banding in the bottoms.
The upper section with a graceful curved crown lifts off for easier moving.
Measurements of this palatial cabinet are 69" wide, 24" deep, 88 1/2" tall, the base is 40 1/2" high.
