A stellar oak bookcase was hand carved with lion heads and oak leaf and acorn motifs in Austria about 1890. The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and polished, so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are minor mars for a little character, see photos. Side panels are raised, front panels are richly carved.
Locks and keys still work on this European antique furniture. Doors have beveled glass, brass hardware is original. Interior shelves are adjustable, the drawer has hand cut dovetail joints.
Dimensions are 55 1/4" wide at the crown, 48" wide in the body, 21" deep and just under 7' tall.
