Renaissance Carved Knights Oak 1890 Bookcase

Hand carved In France of solid oak about 1890, this imposing bookcase has high relief sculptures of knights. Lion heads and fluted columns have masterful.

Tops have been revarnished for durability, the balance of the finish is original and very well preserved. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glowing patina.

Old wavy glass is charming, shelves inside adjust on wooden supports. Two separate pieces make for easier moving. Hand dovetailed drawers have original embossed brasses, locks and keys still work.

Sometimes called "Black Forest" style, this is elegant country house furniture. Measurements are 43" wide, 23" deep, 7' 7" tall and the base is 36 1/2" high.
