Signed by famous maker, "Steinway," a solid cherry tall case or grandfather clock dates from about 40 years ago. Very well preserved, the satiny finish has been waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its soft luster.
The eight day movement keeps accurate time and strikes the familiar "Westminster" chime tune each quarter hour and counts the hour as well. All glass panes are beveled. There is a silent/chime control. The dial has some reglued numerals of various thicknesses and there are dings to the brass weights, see photos.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a housecall and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
This vintage American made clock measures 24 1/2" wide, 14" deep and 78" tall.
