An exceptional quality "stereographoscope" or stereo card viewer was also called a "stereoptican."
A folding case is walnut burl inlaid with maple and ebony banding. The glossy finish is superb, and the condition is so mint, it is hard to believe this case was made about 1900.
An adjustable base allows for a comfortable viewing angle. The large lens is for cabinet photos, the double or "stereo" lenses are for the standard cards, a group of about 20 varied scenes are included.
This parlor antique one of the finest we have seen. Open size is about 16" tall, closed size is 11" long, 7" wide and 4" high.
