This style of Victorian period furniture was called a "slipper bench," under the lid was storage for slippers - and was usually placed at the foot of a bed.
Carved walnut leaves are hand carved in high relief in solid walnut. The old finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Waxed and buffed, an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth will maintain its luster.
Charming old worn upholstery includes a monogram, it could quite easily be reupholstered.
Size of this American made bench or stool is 18" long, 12" wide and 19" tall.
