Carved of solid walnut about 1880, this sweet little footstool has a storage compartment under the genuine hand stitched needlepoint upholstery. Often called a "gout stool," they gave relief by elevating an inflamed foot. There is a small piece missing on one lion head.
The original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its warm glow is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
American made furniture, size is 22" long, 15" wide and 18" tall.
