Built of Solid quartersawn oak this antique 1900 era "S" shaped rolltop desk has 29 drawers of various sizes. Well worn with loads of character and patina - there are mars, stains and losses. The writing surface is new saddle leather.
Used in a general store in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, this is solid and rugged furniture, ready for another 100 years of use. The cast brass lock escutcheon is signed "US Desk and Office Fitting Co., Chicago." The roll operates smoothly and inside are small compartments, plus slots for messages and mail at the sides when the desk is locked. Pulls and label holders all appear original. There is a large file drawer with dividers, also 2 pull-out shelves for extra work area.
Charmingly "beat up," this is a fabulous working desk with deep dovetailed drawers. Size is 4 1/2' long, 31" deep, 49" tall, the leather top is 31" above the floor, and the kneehole is 22 1/2" wide and 25 1/2" tall. Chair in last photo is not included.
