An outstanding Victorian "S" curve solid oak rolltop desk has warm color and patina. The finish is excellent, with just enough character - mars, holes and wear to show its age.
Glowing warm patina is beautiful. The roll operates smoothly, inside are tiny cubicles, tiny drawers and pencil drawers plus mail slots at the ends. Brass knobs and label holders are original from about 1900. When the roll is closed, it locks the lower left and right drawers. Two banks of deep drawers have dovetailed joinery, there is a large file drawer and two pull-out shelves.
There was originally no center drawer, one was created recently using the original front. Paneled and finished all around, this antique furniture shows superior American craftsmanship from about 1900.
The upper section is removable for easier moving. Size is 5' long, 30" deep, 50" tall, the writing surface is 30" high and the generous kneehole is 30" wide and 25" tall. Chair is not included.
