Hand carved of solid walnut in England around 1860, this large fireplace screen has a tapestry with a hunt scene and is scaled for Downton Abbey.
The frame with spiral columns has a very well preserved original finish with warm antique patina - note in photos various restorations over the years. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster.
The woven tapestry depicts a hunt scene. Brass wheels are original on this historic furniture, used in front of the hearth to deflect a hot fire.
Size is 40" wide, 24" deep and 55" tall.
