This late Victorian or Eastlake period bedroom set has a spectacular half-canopy or half-tester bed, adapted to queen size, a marble top chest or dresser with mirror and a small chest or commode. All solid walnut with burl panels, this nostalgic American antique furniture dates from about 1875.
The satiny finish is excellent throughout, and brasses are original. Delicate moldings and some incised or "spoon" carving is characteristic of the era. All three pieces have always been together, notice subtle variations among these three pieces - they are not identical but very compatible.
The bed has a tufted canopy liner, and has been adapted to fit standard modern queen size bedding as shown. Very solidly made, it disassembles into manageable pieces for delivery. Measurements are 7'3" long, 5'5" wide, 8' tall and the footboard is 32" tall.
The chest has a swivel mirror and candlestands, the marble top is in very good condition. Drawers have round or pin-and-cove dovetails of the era, and size is 39" wide, 18" deep, and 6'11" tall.
The little chest or commode would make a nice bedside table. In photo, notice two small repairs to the marble backsplash. Dovetails are visible on the drawer, and size is 27" wide, 15" deep and 34" tall.
